When students return to campus in August, there will be three new deans in the Schools of Divinity, Education, and Liberal Arts & Sciences. The three new dean appointments were announced in chapel in February; however they did not transition into the roles until July 1, 2020.听
Dr. Keith Plummer is the new dean of the School of Divinity. Dr. Plummer has been at the University since 2010, primarily teaching courses in biblical hermeneutics, pastoral counseling, and his personal favorite鈥攁pologetics. Dr. Plummer has become an integral part of the School of Divinity faculty, and he looks forward to leading and working with this group of professors whom he greatly admires. Dr. Plummer takes the place of Dr. Jonathan Master, who is now president of Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary.
The new dean of the School of Education is Dr. Stacey Bose. Dr. Bose is new to the University and is transitioning from her former role as director of accreditation in Liberty University鈥檚 School of Education. Dr. Bose draws on an extensive and varied educational career, where she has worked internationally at multiple levels of the school system including South Korea, Brazil, Panama, and Ecuador. This multicultural experience gives Dr. Bose a unique understanding of many educational techniques, and she plans to implement this knowledge in her role to help form qualified and competent educators. Dr. Bose takes the place of Dr. Dianne Alexander, who served as interim dean for the 2019鈥20 academic year.
Dr. Aneesh Khushman, current professor of biology, is the new dean of the School of Liberal Arts & Sciences. Dr. Khushman holds an MD from the Xavier University School of Medicine. After earning his degree, he worked at a hospital in rural central India; the same hospital where his grandparents once worked as servants. Before coming to the University last fall, Dr. Khushman taught at Manor College and Bucks County Community College. His experiences in higher education and the medical field have given him a passion for conveying to students the importance of understanding service, learning, and science through the lens of Christian faith. He looks forward to continued teaching in human anatomy and genetics courses in addition to his new role as dean. Dr. Khushman takes the place of Dr. Brenda Mellon, who has moved to the Office of the Provost to begin her new role as director of educational partnerships.听
The University is looking forward with great anticipation to a strong start to the fall semester under the academic leadership of our new deans. Congratulations on your new roles!
