It has been a very productive week at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ and we are very busy as we approach the end of Term 2 and the Christmas festivities. Plans for the Winter Concert are shaping up and the students are getting very excited as they prepare for their performances. The air is certainly full of Christmas spirit here at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ.
We have been very excited to welcome parents on site this week for specific events as per our H&S guidance, and in the last few days we have had the pleasure of hosting parents for 5A’s and 6E’s assemblies, Primary Student-Led conferences and the Year 7 mentor group evening. We look forward to hosting many more such events and continuing to build on our strong and supportive relationships with parents.
Best wishes

Annual THIMUN Singapore Model United Nations Conference.
Our students took part in the annual THIMUN Singapore Model United Nations Conference in the last week of November. Â
Eighteen students attended from Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ, representing Jamaica and Cameroon in a variety of committees ranging from Environmental and Economic, to Human Rights, to Legal and Finance and many in between.
It was a tremendous success, with students doing a magnificent job fighting the corner of nations that do not often have significant influence on the international scene. The Conference saw our delegates lobbying, arguing with, and persuading others to back resolutions on a number of highly relevant issues.
Our delegation was involved in passing the resolutions on the following topics:
The peaceful use of nuclear energy and a framework for a new deal on nuclear power for Iran.
Providing opportunities for people who would otherwise turn to piracy such as education and employment to ensure maritime safety.
Improving conditions and healthcare for migrant workers.
Using education to reduce the consumption of unhealthy foods.
Reduction of plastics in order to save maritime habitats.
Improving infrastructure to withstand natural disasters.
The economic impact of technology on the workforce.
Human rights in the digital age.
Improving access to HIV/AIDS treatment and information.
The impact of climate change: urban areas dealing with extreme weather.
All students involved had a wonderful time and we are all very much looking forward to the next Conference.
Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ’s Model United Nations Club will resume in January with an expanded scope, and will be open to all students in Secondary.
PE Spotlight
The students have really enjoyed being back doing regular PE and improving their core skills in a range of activities including striking games, volleyball, handball and tennis. The main focus of the term was the inaugural house competition ‘The Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Combine’. Modelled on the NFL Draft Combine, the students from year 3 to 11 undertook a series of fitness tests such as the 12 minute Cooper Run, the Illinois Agility Test & 25m Sprint.Â
The students really challenged themselves to produce their best for their house communities. The Boys and Girls MVP (Most Valuable Player) in each year will receive a medal and the overall house winners will receive a Trophy, winners to be announced next week!
KS5 PE has been centered around Striking Games, Badminton & Volleyball. The volleyball teams have been playing and practicing for their KS5 Volleyball league, which will culminate in a very exciting finals series next week, good luck to everyone involved!
