The Primary students are buzzing after their residentials. All year groups from Y1 to Y6 have now been able to participate in the exciting overnight expeditions that have broadened their experiences, built new skills and cemented friendships.Ìý
As the students are becoming more physically active in our PE lessons, we need to ensure that they are safe and can breathe well. Therefore, from Monday, students will not have to wear masks during outdoor PE lessons in order to aid their respiration during physical exertion.
Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ has a very close relationship with parents and we care about how you view our school. We would like to gather some more information on this and so I have included a short survey this week. I would appreciate it if you could please complete this brief by 9am, on Friday April 8th.
Have a lovely weekend.

Message from the Secondary Student Leaders
As we are approaching the final week of Term 3 – as well as the exam season – we realise how quickly this year has gone by. As a prefect team especially, it feels as though this year has flown by, but at the same time, we are incredibly excited to welcome the new student leadership team and see what they have in store for the next year!
Some of you may have noticed this already, but the Student Leadership Team has put up a notice board on the walls along the side of En1. You can see all the incredible achievements and projects the team has completed throughout the academic year. The notice board will also soon be used to introduce the new student leadership team, so look out for the lovely new faces!Ìý
New Student Leadership Team (2022/23)
Following a very thorough and comprehensive application process we are extremely excited to announce our KS5 Prefect Team for the next academic year. Our student applicants were required to submit a 1-2 page application letter, participate in an extended interview, and for our Head Prefect applicants, present in assembly to our students and staff. We had 34 candidates from Year 11 and Year 12, all of whom thoroughly impressed us throughout the process with their diverse range of leadership skills, experience and determination to add value to our school community.
It is with great pleasure that we can announce our KS5 Prefect Team for 2022/23.
Primary Expedition Spotlight
Our Year 4 students went on an adventurous camping trip to Sankhu, where they took part in many fun activities. They enjoyed creating colourful nature and temple art and sea wigs along the river inspired by our class book Oliver and the Seawigs. A visit to a recycling garden motivated the students to do a litter pick in the forest. Sankhu village was explored through a treasure hunt. After returning to the camp, they enjoyed playing board games and football. A delicious dinner was followed by singing Sankhu songs around the campfire. When it started to drizzle, it was time to go to sleep.
The next day started with the Wake-up, Shake-up song, and Happy Birthday for Arohi. After completing all activities and enjoying a tasty lunch, it was time to say a big thank you to the Tiger Mountain staff and have a little nap on the bus on the way back to school. Well done, Year 4, for being such amazing explorers!
Our Year 5 students went on their first expedition in almost three years to Hattiban and Nagarjun. The trip started with a morning bus ride in beautiful sunshine. Then students used their resilience learning power to help them through a tough hike up the Hattiban hill to the Monastery. After a bite to eat, they put up their own tents with a little help from our excellent guides from The Last Resort. The rest of the afternoon was spent exploring the local area using games and a treasure hunt. Even the storm at dinner time didn’t dampen spirits as they all huddled together in the tent to enjoy their meal. After the storm cleared, they readied themselves for bed under a clear sky, tired but happy after a great first day.
On the second morning, they packed up all of their things and hiked back down to where the bus was waiting to whisk them to the Nagarjun National Park for some rock climbing. Both classes showed amazing bravery and skill when climbing the near vertical rock wall. After a long day climbing and supporting their friends, it was time to head back to the bus for a quick nap before arriving back at school. Congratulations to 5A and 5S on a fantastic expedition!

Students in year 7 are coming to the end of their drama study this term and have thoroughly enjoyed being immersed in the world of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time. They have learnt new skills in reading drama texts, understanding how drama works on stage and even writing their own scripts. Some of the students produced their own alternative covers for the script.
Shrishti Kedia, Avideep Bajgain
Year 8 have been studying poetry with a focus on culture and heritage. They have travelled the world through poetry and are finishing this topic by writing some original poems based on their own culture. Some of the poems are fascinating and show a deep engagement with culture and literature.
Aaiesteena, Shaivee & Ashlesha
Students in Year 9 are also coming to the end of a drama study unit, this time based around Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. This has aligned perfectly with their year group performance that will be happening very soon and has given them an insight into how drama works both as literature and live action. They have also been looking at poetry throughout the year and have taken the opportunity to complete independent research on their favourite poets ranging from Shakespeare to Taylor Swift.
KS4
Year 10 students have been discovering the joys of literature through world poetry and, more recently, Jumpa Lahiri’s The Namesake. They have shown their interest in reading around the topic by producing some fantastic analytical posters on The Overcoat by Nikolai Gogol.
Year 11 are coming up to their exams and have been working very hard to ensure they are as prepared as possible. They have submitted some truly fantastic pieces of narrative, descriptive and discursive writing as part of the coursework portfolio which showcase the talent and drive this group of students possesses.
KS5
Year 12 and 13 are also in the final stretch before their examinations. The depth of their knowledge around the key topic areas is growing and it is always very exciting to look at new material from different perspectives.
Year 12 students in Literature have been creating their own revision resources to aid both themselves and others in the lead-up to the exams.
