It has been a very special week at ĢƵ as we have held two different Graduation events. On Tuesday there was a formal ceremony and dinner at the Hyatt hotel for our Y13 leavers. We wish them the very best as they move on from ĢƵ and A-levels and make their next steps in life. The majority of our graduates will be going to study in international universities and we wish them the very best, wherever they end up in the world. Today, we also had a Graduation Assembly for our Year 6 students. Although they will not necessarily be leaving ĢƵ like our Y13s, the move to the secondary section marks a significant transition for them and we are very proud of their time in Primary and the learning (both personal and acetic) that they will take with them.
We were delighted to be able to welcome parents and carers onto campus this week for a number of events. Two of our highlights were the Primary ĢƵ’s Got Talent event and also the ĢƵ Music Academy’s recital programmes. Both showcased the amazing talents of our students and were a real joy.
Next week we are looking forward to Enrichment Week. This is an excellent opportunity for our students to experience something different and explore learning beyond the usual curriculum opportunities. It promises to be a fun and exciting week and we look forward to seeing all of our students participating.
Finally, we will be welcoming some new staff members next year and you can see the staff profiles here.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend.

Talent Show
On Friday, 14th June, the house captains hosted ‘ĢƵ Has Got Talent’, an event that highlighted the remarkable talents of our students. It was inspiring to witness so many children demonstrating the qualities of risk-taking rhinos by performing confidently before their peers. The house captains faced a significant challenge in judging the event due to the high calibre of the performances but after calculating the scores, the results are as follows:
1st – Yudra 6E (Singing)
2nd = Ira 3B (Singing her own song) Anushree 6A (Playing piano)
3rd – Arianna 4W (Traditional dancing)
Congratulations to all students who participated in the event, they should be proud of themselves.
Forest School
This week marked the last Forest School session of KS1 for our Year 2 students, and to ensure that they had a memorable last trip to Chobar, a few special changes were made. These included spending a little bit more time than usual at the site, this meant more time for exploring, mud cakes and zip lines, a picnic lunch and a very special treat organised by our Forest School Leader Mrs Yates. Despite it being very damp, she managed to get a very small fire going, where she taught the children to safely toast marshmallows. Yummy!
Year 2 are very sad about the possibility of not getting to go to Forest School so much in Year 3, but very excited about all of the new adventures that they are going to have.
Year 6 Graduation
On Friday the Year 6 children bid farewell to their time in Primary with a wonderful graduation assembly followed by a Year 6 Disco. The children wrote their own leaving assembly recapping the wonderful memories of their time in Primary at ĢƵ and what they have enjoyed the most this academic year. It has been wonderful watching them all grow and flourish into mature, responsible and empathetic students ready for Year 7 and the wonderful world of Secondary. They have all been on an incredibly learning journey this year and we cannot wait to hear about all the exciting and challenging things they do in Year 7 and beyond. For our lovely leaving students, we wish you every success in your new adventures and will miss you greatly. Thank you for being such a wonderful part of our ĢƵ community.
Today our Early Years to Year 5 children have taken part in our transition day where the students went to their new classes and either met their teachers or were shown a video of their teacher introducing themselves for the morning. They looked at the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their rights as learners to agree their class charters.
As part of our ongoing transition program, the children then returned to their current classes and were given time to reflect and discuss their experiences. They gave us some positive feedback on their experiences and we are pleased they enjoyed the day. Through these activities, we aim to prepare them for the next step in their learning journey and ensure they are able to enjoy their learning experiences and reach their full potential.
Please speak to your child this weekend about their experiences in their new class, who their new teacher is and what they are looking forward to next year to support this approach.
We would also like to take this opportunity to wish our friends who are moving on this year all the very best in their next adventures and please keep in touch!
Work Experience
We have very much enjoyed having the Year 11 students in the Primary and Early Years section for their work experience week.
We have been very impressed by their attitude to working with our teachers and how they have engaged with our Primary students. They have observed lessons, prepared resources and worked with small groups as well as preparing and delivering a short session for their class.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their time and for considering a career in teaching, we wish them all the best for Year 12 and beyond!

Dead Dog in a Suitcase (School Play)
Mayor Goodman and his dog have been brutally killed. As a local fish and construction businessman, Mr Peachum, steps in as the new mayor, who is to blame for the assassination? Corruption, murder and theft are rife in the city. Wanted criminal, Macheath, seems to be to blame, but is everything as it seems? As Chief of Police, Colin Lockit, attempts to hunt the killer down, he is also trying to discover who has got his daughter (Lucy) pregnant. Will Lockit catch Macheath before the city is dragged towards destruction?
If you’d like to watch the show put on by our students, please purchase a ticket from the community shop from Monday.
Graduation – “au revoir” to the class of 2024
On Tuesday evening, friends and family gathered with the class of 2024 for their ĢƵ graduation ceremony at the Hyatt Place hotel. A wonderful evening of farewell speeches, music from the class of 24 and dinner table conversation was a perfect way to say farewell to a wonderful year group. It was a real pleasure to welcome back from the class of 2012, ĢƵ alumnus and Managing Director of the Kantipur Media Group, Sambhav Sirohiya together with his brother (Class of 2018) and their wives. Sambhav inspired us with his story of how he has overcome setbacks and disappointments in his life to make him the strong, determined and successful leader and entrepreneur he is today.

Model United Nations
This week saw the first ĢƵ Model United Nations Day for Year 9, 10 and 12. The day started with an opening ceremony and keynote address given by Mr Chevillard, Deputy Representative for the UNDP in Nepal followed by a gay of engaging with some of the major geo-political issues of the day in a series of UN style committees, chaired by experienced guest dais, who led our student through the formal procedures of UN style debate and resolution making. Students were assigned to one of four committees for the day.
The MUN Security Council discussed countering terrorism and violence and focussed on the recent situation in Afghanistan.
The MUN Environment Programme went a little off topic with their conversations about the war in Ukraine but managed to bring it back on topic with a resolution on the possible environmental impact of an escalated war.
The model DISEC looked at the use of PMC’s and Mercenaries in Areas of Armed Conflict and passed a resolution looking to regulate the use of mercenaries.
The final committee – a model British House of Commons – discussed the situation of migrants across the globe with specific reference to the UK position. Keir Starmar was nominated as the best delegate!
Each committee chair nominates their best and outstanding delegates with winners’ certificates awarded in Friday’s closing ceremony. We hope students really enjoyed their experience, learned some more about geopolitics, diplomacy and had the opportunity to develop their skills in, amongst others; public speaking, debating, teamwork, collaboration and agreeing compromises. MUN club will relaunch in August and we hope that many delegates from our first ĢƵ MUN conference will be inspired to sign up.
World Scholar’s Cup
Whilst the older students were taking part in MUN, Year 7 & 8 had a wonderful opportunity to experience the full WSC experience competing in teams of three in the traditional programme of free writing, scholar’s challenge, scholar’s bowl and team debating. In the afternoon, we enjoyed the exhibition debate, the cultural fair, the “adopt your yak” (a himalayan Alpaca?) ceremony and of course the final presentation with many certificates, medals and trophies being presented. Look at the photos to see how much fun we had.
The Scholar’s Challenge – 6 subject areas, 60 questions, 60 minutes. It’s like an exam but more fun because it’s the World Scholar’s Cup!
Team Debate – Dogs are better than cats! Can you argue persuasively in public? Judged by our student WSC leaders.
The cultural fair – each country has the opportunity to share their culture with the other scholars.
The overall champion team and first winners of the ĢƵ WSC champions trophy (on the left) and the second team (on the right) who also won trophies for being section winners of the team debate and the scholars bowl.
Community Partners
A group of four students visited one of our community partner schools to start a library refurbishment programme. Our students have been working on these plans all year and finally everything fell into place. Stage 1: fresh paint. The project will be completed during next academic year.
The ĢƵ Alumni Games
Friday sees the return of the Alumni Games, where teams representing the alumni compete with the current school teams in boys and girls basketball and football. After the competitions were finished, a community BBQ was enjoyed by all. All money raised from this event will be used to support our community partner schools.
