It has been a fabulous week at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ with our exam students taking centre stage for our awards events. On Thursday evening, we celebrated the GCSE Awards and it was wonderful to see the Y12 students and parents, either in person or online, and to have them join us for such a celebratory event. This morning we were joined by all of our Y13 students and their families to celebrate their AS Level success.
It is incredibly heartening to be able to welcome families onto the campus on occasions such as these as we celebrate the academic and personal achievements of our students. As we move towards a lower rate of COVID in Nepal and a higher rate of vaccination, we are looking at how we can have more opportunities to have guests on campus in a safe way. Our next big event will be the Winter Concert on December 9th which we are all looking forward to and we hope to see many of you there, joining in the festivities.
Best wishesÂ

OFFICIAL NOTICES
Now that the COVID situation is stable in Nepal and school is open, we have returned to full time in-class learning. This means that our online provision will come to an end on the 3rd of December. We will of course retain the facility to switch swiftly to online provision if the need arises, either as a whole-school move or for specific year groups/ subjects e.g. during mandatory self-isolation.
Early Years Spotlight
In EY we are learning about ‘Transportation’. The students shared how they come to school and which vehicles they use to travel during the holidays; a jeep in Chitwan, an aeroplane to Pokhara and a train in London/Spain. One of our students was very excited about his past bus journeys. So we decided to build a bus using the materials available in our outdoor area. All students were working together like cooperative ants and communicative parrots.Â
One student noticed we also needed a ticket counter and we decided to set up a counter using the puppet station. Some children made the bus tickets and then were ready for departure. The children were very responsible, thinking about safety belts and not standing up while the bus was moving. We really enjoyed several adventurous bus trips this week!
Celebration Events
It was wonderful to be able to celebrate our GCSE and AS Level Awards in person, to come together to celebrate students’ achievements with their families. Thank you to HE Nicola Pollitt, UK Ambassador, for giving such an inspiring keynote speech and for presenting the GCSE certificates. For the students who sat in the hall 2 years ago, watching students who have now graduated receive their AS certificates, they couldn’t have imagined that they’d be completing their own GCSEs and AS Levels in the midst of a global pandemic. Even with this to deal with our students excelled. They got through a challenging time and were able to continue on their educational journey, showing courage and resilience.Â
As a school we are very proud of our students’ achievements. Not only of the A and A* grades and the 90%+ of students who exceeded their target grades, but also of the growth and learning that they have shown in many other areas of their lives. This is why we have such pleasure in celebrating our students’ achievements and have true appreciation for what they have accomplished.
At the events, we presented students with their exam certificates, the subject awards and our 5C Awards. The 5C Awards represent the ethos of our school and highlight what it means to be a student at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ.Â
Challenge: The challenge award celebrates a student who has been willing to take risks and has also inspired others to do the same. They have pushed the boundaries of their perceived capabilities to achieve their own personal excellence. Our recipients of the Challenge Award were Ishan Gurung (Y12) and Shloka Rajbhandary (Y13).

Confidence: The confidence award celebrates a student who was an assured communicator, someone who was able to appropriately express their ideas, opinions and individuality with integrity. Their confidence created an inclusive environment where individual differences were celebrated proudly. Our recipients of the Confidence Award were Meghna Lahiri (Y12) and Ohjun Kwon (Y13).
Creativity: The creativity award celebrates a student who pursued their artistic passions and pursuits in all avenues of their learning. They encouraged others to develop their imagination and inspired inventiveness and innovation in their peers. Our recipients of the Creativity Award were Abayaa Afful (Y12) and Jinny Eo (Y13).

Messages from our Secondary Student Leaders
Hello everyone,Â
We’ve had a really eventful week this week and are really excited to share what has happened so far.
Live assembly:
Well-done to our Community Prefect for leading a live assembly last Friday! We really enjoyed the ‘̹½ÊÓƵ-talk’ about ‘goals’ and the importance of setting them. Vibek’s Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ-talk was incredibly informative and motivating for all the secondary students to hear!
Musical Monday:
Well done to Raghavi, Benji, Shayan and Okitha for their lively and energetic performance for us at the gate on Monday morning. We all thoroughly enjoyed being greeted with such a warm welcome to school on a Monday morning. Musical Monday will return next week. Make sure you keep an eye out for our talented student performers over the following weeks.
Christmas bags:
Thank you to everyone for filling up your Christmas bags! I’m sure the recipients of your gifts will feel all the love that has gone into the presents everyone has bought.
KS5 Volleyball League:
We’re very excited to announce that our semi finals games have been decided!
Games to look out for:
Team 1 vs Team 4
Team 2 vs Team 3
The dates have not been finalised for these games. We are trying to be as flexible as possible so that those who have exams are still able to participate. We hope all of you will support our teams during these games. Good luck to everyone, and may the best team win!
IGCSE and A-level awards:
This Thursday evening and earlier today, we were able to celebrate how well our current sixth formers were able to achieve despite being faced with several challenges and road-blocks over the past two academic years. It was really lovely to have both parents and students on campus once again to finally have a much-deserved live celebration. A special thank you to Her Excellency Nicola Pollitt, British Ambassador to Nepal, for attending the GCSE awards ceremony to celebrate with us.Â
Community
Thank you to everyone who has brought in Christmas bags this week!
We hope to share the joy of Christmas by giving some lovely presents to the students of our Community Partner schools. Currently, we have collected almost 260 bags which is an amazing feat; however, our aim is to collect 560 Christmas Bags in total. These bags can be filled with any new gifts including stationeries, games, toys, books, etc. We hope to see even more bags by the beginning of next week!Â
Thank you.
Harira and Vibek (Community Prefects)
