Business Studies allows students to understand more about the business world and motivates and challenges students, preparing them to make informed decisions about further study and career pathways.

At Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ we have been examining a wide array of businesses and business practices. Students enjoy putting themselves in the role of business owners and using their problem solving skills to consider how they can help the business thrive.

For example in year 10, we are currently working on a case study about a restaurant which wishes to expand. This involves a consideration of new management and staff, plans for expansion and deciding on diversification of the target market. Students are provided with an array of resumes in order to consider effective staffing. They need to decide upon options for expansion – will a larger location suffice, or is converting a ship into a floating restaurant a good option? Finally they need to consider the market, and how they can diversify in order to help the business become successful. All in all this case study based approach allows our students to put themselves in the shoes of business owners, giving them the opportunity to develop skills and expertise in effective decision making and entrepreneurialism.Ìý

Early Years and Y1 extended their learning at Chobar. Children had opportunities to achieve, develop confidence and improve self-esteem, all through hands-on learning experiences. Children spent prolonged periods of time outside in natural surroundings in order to gain rich experiences through risk-taking, exploration and getting familiar with the environment. They observed the similarities and differences in their surroundings and made comparisons. Children shared their first experiences of Outdoor Learning and expressed their favourite parts which included climbing trees, playing in the muddy puddles, chasing butterflies and making a mud chocolate drinks.

Hello, we’re the Eco Warriors. Next Wednesday we will be monitoring litter around the school and identifying all the hotspots. This means where people litter the most. Because of this, on Wednesday the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ cleaners will not pick up any litter that they find. They won’t clean up after us! Parents, when you pick up your child next Wednesday you might see some rubbish. We will report our findings in the newsletter and at assemblies.

This week, we looked around the school and still saw heaps of rubbish even after the cleaners cleaned the school! Here’s a picture of the rubbish we found.
